MATH: Pre-Algebra students will have a test on Tuesday over Chapter 4, Factors and Fractions. Algebra 1 students will be solving inequalities. General Math students will be working with decimals.

SOCIAL STUDIES: In Geography we will continue learning about Western Europe. In Civics we will be studying the different types of court systems in the United States.

SCIENCE: Both grades will have a Science Test on Friday. The 7th graders test will cover Chapter 10, Regulation and Reproduction. The 8th graders test will be over Chapter 8, Circualtion.

RELIGION: The 8th graders will be learning about liberalism and the 7th graders the Triduum.

SPELLING: We will be on Unit 15 next week, words can be found on pg. 96.

MATH: In Algebera 1 students will be working with ratios and proportions. Pre-Algebra students will be simplifying algebraic expressions. General Math students will be multiplying and dividing integers.

SOCIAL STUDIES: In Geography we will be learning about the Panama Canal. We will have a Civics Test on Friday, it covers Chapter 4, The Bill of Rights.

SCIENCE: The 7th graders will have a Science Test on Thursday, it will cover Chapter 7, Animal Behaviors. The 8th graders will be learning about stars and galaxies.

RELIGION: The 8th graders will be learning about the Society of Jesus. The 7th graders will be learning about what the word Messiah means and all it refers to.

SPELLING: Words can be found on pg. 60 next week.

MATH: Algebra 1 students will have a test over Chapter 2, Real Numbers, on Tuesday. Pre-Algebra and General Math students will be graphing on a coordinate plains. Starting Wedneday we will be reviewing for standardized testing. We will be reviewing concepts for the test. Since calculators are not allowed to be used on the test, students will not be allowed to use calculators on ANY of their Math homework during this time period.

SOCIAL STUDIES: There will be a Civics Test on Wednesday. This covers Chapter 3, The Constitution. There will be a Geography Test on Friday. This covers Chapter 5, Canada.

RELIGION: The 8th graders will be learing about life in Nazareth. The 8th graders will be studying the time period 1036-1345 A.D.

SCIENCE: The 8th graders will be learning about the inner planets. The 7th graders will be learning about the excretory and respiratory systems.

SPELLING: We will be doing the Units 1-5 Review next week. The words can be found on pg. 42. The spelling test will be in multiple choice format.

MATH: General Math students will have a test on Wednesday over Chapter 1, Decimal Patterns and Algebra. Algebra students will be adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing rational numbers. Pre-Algebra students will be working with absolute value.
SOCIAL STUDIES:  In Civics we will be discussing the constitutional convention. In Geography we will be working on a project over Canada and will have our state capitol test on Friday.
SCIENCE: The 7th graders will be studying cell processes and the 8th graders will be learning about the Earth-Moon System.
RELIGION: The 8th graders will be studying the great schism. The 7th graders will be learning about covenants.
SPELLING: We will be on Unit 4 next week, words can be found on pg. 30.
TESTS: Wednesday- General Math Test Over Chapter 1
Friday- Geography Test Over State Capitols.

7TH AND 8TH GRADE NEWS, 8/26/11

MATH: Algebra 1 students will be having a test over Chapter 1, Language of Algebra, on Wednesday. Pre-Algebra students will be having a test over Chapter 1, The Tools of Algebra, on Thursday. General Math students will be working with Scientific Notation next week.
SOCIAL STUDIES: There will be a Geography test on Wednesday, this covers Chapter 4 The United States. There will also be a Civics test on Thursday. This covers Chapter 2, Roots of American Democracy.
SCIENCE: Both the 7th and 8th grades will be having a Science Test on Tuesday. The 7th graders test is over Chapter 3, Cells. The 8th graders test is over Chapter 2, Exploring Space.
RELIGION: Next week the 8th graders will be learning about the Apostolic Fathers. The 7th graders will be learning about different types of literary forms that were used in the Bible.
SPELLING: We will be on Unit 3 next week, words can be found on pg. 24.

MATH: Algebra 1 students will be solving quadratic equations by graphing. Pre-Algebra students will be solving systems of equations and general math students will continue studying geometric figures. 

SOCIAL STUDIES: Geography students will be learning about Southwest Asia. In Civics we will be studying the basic principles of economics and continuing to work on Project Citizen.

SCIENCE: The 8th graders will be studying atoms. The 7th graders will be studying a variety of oceanic features.

RELIGION: The 7th graders will be learning what providence is. The 8th graders will be studying the Reign of Terror.

SPELLING: We will be on Unit 29 next week. Words can be found on pg. 180.

TESTS: There are not tests next week.

SOCIAL STUDIES: The 8th graders will continue working on Project Citizen next week. The 7th graders will continue studying Egypt and Libya.
SCIENCE: Both the 7th and 8th grades will have a test on Friday. The 8th grades test will cover Chapter 16, Climate. The 7th grades test will cover Chapter 15, Earthquakes and Volcanoes.
RELIGION: The 8th graders will continue studying the Society of Jesus. The 7th graders will continue studying the Lords Prayer. SPELLING: We will be on Unit 28 next week. Words can be found on pg. 174.

MATH: Pre-Algebra students will be graphing linear equations next week. General Math students will be finding simple interest. Algebra 1 students will continue factoring trinomials.
SOCIAL STUDIES: In Geography next week we will continue studying the History of Russia. In Civics we will continue working on project citizen and studying local governments.
SCIENCE: On Thursday both the 7th and 8th grades will have a test. The 8th graders test covers chapter 15, Atmosphere in Motion. The 7th graders test covers Chapter 14, Plate Tectonics
RELIGION: The 8th graders will be studying the effects Calvinism had on the Catholic church. The 7th graders will continue studying the Gospels.
SPELLING: We will be on unit 26 next week, words can be found on pg. 162.

NEWSLETTER, MARCH 4, 2011

MATH: Algebra 1 students will be working with factors and using the foil method in the reverse order to factor polynomials. Pre-Algebra students will have a test on Thursday over Chapter 7, Equations and Inequalities. General Math students will be figuring out the percent of change of equations.
SOCIAL STUDIES: In Civics we will continue working on Project Citizen. We will also be learning bout city governments. In Geography we will have a test over Chapter 14, Russia’s Economy, on Tuesday. Then we will begin learning about the history of Russia.
SCIENCE: The 7th grade will be studying the theory of continental drift next week. The 8th grade will be learning about the atmosphere.
RELIGION: The 8th graders will be learning about the Renaissance and the 7th graders will be learning about the Gospels, specifically Mark.
SPELLING: We will be on Unit 25, words can be found on pg. 156.

NEWSLETTER 1/14/11

MATH- Algebra 1 students will be graphing systems of inequalities next week. Pre-Algebra students will be finding percents mentally. General Math students will be dividing fractions and mixed numbers.

SOCIAL STUDIES- We will have a test over Chapter 12, Northern Europe, in Geography on Tuesday. We will then begin a unit over Eastern Europe. We will be having a test in Civics on Thursday over Chapter 11, Influencing Government.

SCIENCE- Both the 7th and 8th graders will be having atest on Thursday. The 7th graders test will cover Chapter 11, Heredity. The 8th graders test will cover Chapter 9, Immunity and Disease.

RELIGION- The 8th graders will be studying the Golden Age of Church Fathers. The 7th graders will be studying different literary forms used in the Bible.

SPELLING- We will be on Unit 20 next week. Words can be found on pg. 126. The pre-test will be on Wednesday and the test on Thursday due to the pro-life Rosary we will be attending at the capital.

5TH MATH- We will have a test over Chapter 6, Math Functions, on Thursday.

6TH MATH- We will be adding and subtracting mixed numbers next week.

TESTS- Chapter 12 Geography Test on Tuesday.
Chapter 9 Eighth Grade Science Test on Thursday.
Chapter 11 Seventh Grade Science Test on Thursday.
Chapter 11 Civics Test on Thursday.

Newsletter 1/7/11

MATH: In Pre-Algebra next week we will be using the percent proportion. Algebra 1 students will be continuing to work with elimination. In General Math students will be multiplying and dividing mixed numbers.
SOCIAL STUDIES: On Thursday we will be having a Geography test over Chapter 12 which covers Northern Europe.
In Civics we will continue studying interest groups and public opinion.
SCIENCE: The 7th graders will continues studying genetics next week and the 8th graders will continue studying the immune system.
RELIGION: The 8th graders will be studying the golden age of the church fathers. The 7th graders will be studying different literary forms used in the Bible.
SPELLING: We will be on Unit 19 next week, words can be found on pg. 120.
TESTS: Chapter 12 Geography Test on Thursday
